So I work on the 7th floor, which means that I go into the building and go DOWN because ground level is actually the 10th floor. Got it? And I have a class I have to go to on the third floor of another building, which entails entering one building, crossing a bridge over a big street, and going down again, since the entrance there is the sixth floor.
The other day I had to go to the fourth floor of yet another building, so I got in the elevator and hit the 4 button. It didn't respond. Someone else in the elevator informed me that that elevator didn't go to four, it only went to 7 and above, and so I should get off at 7 where both elevators stop, get out, and go to the other elevator and go down to 4. So I got off at 7 and saw the elevator but there was no button. After searching under a pile of flyers pinned up above where the button should be, I realized that there was another elevator across the hall (which was, apparently, the same) and there was a button there.
Today I entered the same building trying to go to the second floor. AHA! I remembered that the first set of elevators didn't go to the first four floors, so I went to the other elevators, only to hit the 2 and have it not respond at all. So, I thought, maybe the first set does go to 2? And so I went in there and the doors shut, and I realized there wasn't even a 2. So I hit L to be let out, and the doors stayed shut. I was trapped! So I hit 7, went to 7, got out, switched elevators, and went down to L in the other one (once again trying 2, to no avail). So I got out and started looking for a staircase, which I eventually found, and I went up to an unmarked door. It didn't look promising, but it opened, revealing some sort of storage closet. At that moment someone was coming down the stairs, so I asked how to get to the 2nd floor. He told me that I had to go to yet another set of elevators in a different (and fairly hidden) location to get there.
So this is my life at the moment.
